Pros
Great exhibits, great people to work with.
Cons
This is a very physically demanding job. This rating is for the VX position itself and may non reflect desk or remote jobs where this does not utilize. Delight await to piece of work total shifts that are completely standing unless assigned at the desk-bound, which is not given out oftentimes except for favorites in the department who have the desk experience from being assigned in that location continuously. Continuing all 24-hour interval can exist very painful, and time feels extremely long when the museum is not busy and there is not much to do but stand. I advise anyone working at this position to advocate for themselves and do not hesitate to accomplish out when yous are experiencing pain.

Pros
It's incredible to work in such astonishing settings with beautiful and important art collections. Some colleagues are creative, passionate, and dedicated.
Cons
Toxic work civilization, people are very territorial, managers oft play favorites. There's not a lot of room for collaboration or experimentation, and senior staff don't really listen to suggestions from people beneath them. Lots of keen ideas are overlooked and people don't mostly assistance each other.

Thank you for your ongoing work at FAMSF and taking the fourth dimension to provide this feedback. I agree that our amazing art collections in such a beautiful setting is a wonderful part of working for the Fine Arts Museums. We are, as you suggest, currently taking a difficult expect at the hierarchies inherent in our organizational structure, and finding more than opportunities for cantankerous departmental collaborations. This has been motivated in a major way past the intense internal reflecting we have been doing for the ameliorate office of a year. This reflecting is formally role of an organization-wide capacity building series nosotros take been engaged in: Becoming An Anti-Racist Organization.
